On August 31, 2010 President Obama gave a high-profile, nationally-televised speech on Iraq, marking the end of official combat operations there. After all that America's warriors have achieved in Iraq, Vets for Freedom urges the President commit to winning the peace in Iraq as we draw down our forces. CLICK HERE to read VFF's Press Release in advance of the speech.

VFF also appeared on Fox News and Fox Business in advance of the speech, and provided immediate reaction to the President's speech on CNN's Larry King Live. Click on the images (left) to view the segment clips.

Also, make sure you read our Unknown Soldiers Blog for the latest developments in Iraq. Official combat may have ended, but our troops are still fighting--and dying--over there.  Tom Sileo, our Blog Editor, posts new stories daily.

Award-Winning Journalist to Lead VFF Blog

Tom Sileo - web

In August, Vets for Freedom launched our partnership with Tom Sileo (pictured left), and his Unknown Soldiers Blog. Tom started this blog on the last day of his career inside the mainstream media, which he believes has failed to adequately cover the post-9/11 war effort. Since then, Tom writes daily about battlefield developments, acts of valor, and fallen heroes.

And now, his blog is an official partner of VFF. All of his original content is posted on our website, and updated daily.  So, from now on, to get the latest information on our warriors-and their mission-make sure to check out The Unknown Soldiers Blog on our website every day.

Brian Chontosh

What is more outrageous than what Capt Brian Chontosh did on March 25, 2003 on Highway 1 toward Ad Diwaniyah while a platoon commander with the Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, is that some of you are hearing about this here for the first time.
